Honouring Tradition While Finding Your Own Way

Usui Reiki is a beautiful Japanese healing system founded by Mikao Usui in the early twentieth century.

Its teachings have been passed through generations with great care, preserving a simple yet profound framework for working with universal life force energy. My teaching honours this lineage while recognising that every student's experience is unique. Rather than encouraging rigid rules or performative expressions of healing, I invite you to develop an authentic relationship with Reiki through practice, curiosity and self-reflection.

There is no single "right" way to experience energy. Your practice will unfold in its own time.

A Science-Informed, Heart-Led Approach

Before creating The Healing Bower, I spent many years as a research scientist and completed a PhD in molecular ecology. Today I bring those two worlds together to teach energy healing through the lenses of what is known and also what is unknowable.

My courses honour the spiritual wisdom of Reiki while remaining grounded in contemporary understanding of wellbeing, nervous system regulation, somatic awareness and emerging research into biofield therapies.

Healing is not just physical, it is spiritual. I offer a grounded learning experience which creates plenty of room for all belief systems to be expressed through this incredible foundational modality.

Reiki Level Two is approved by the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT), allowing graduates to apply for professional membership and insurance if they wish to offer Reiki professionally.
